When we introduced Odin’s Innovations, we set out to bring something genuinely new to a stagnant category — new technology, new performance, something the market had never seen. Every other product on the shelf was slightly repackaged version of the same old thing. But, in their defense, there is just not a lot you can do with deer urine.

The Core Technology: The Biodegradable Polymer

At the core of our offering is the biodegradable polymer. This plant-based polymer absorbs liquid scents and, by its unique characteristics, releases the scent slowly over time. We tested it in a University chemical laboratory and found that after 27 days the polymer was still releasing 52% the amount of scent as day one — and impervious to moisture: heavy dew, rain, or snow.

 

Why We Moved to 100% Synthetic Scents

Our first iteration used natural doe urine. The polymers functioned as expected — but the natural urine had significant, unavoidable drawbacks:

•       Poor shelf life and difficult handling requirements

•       Grew mold over time as a natural product

•       No reliable method to ensure consistency — every sample from an animal was at least a little different

•       No way to remove bacteria or unwanted components without risking efficacy

•       State regulations are increasingly limiting or banning the use of natural cervid urine (35+ states with CWD restrictions now favor synthetics)

 

So we migrated to 100% synthetic scents.

We partnered with a company that had developed a family of scents for a mister device — Hunter’s Kloak. Their scents were dead-on accurate replications of natural deer attractants, so to secure the formulations we acquired the company in January 2021.

 

What Synthetic Scent Technology Enables

Synthetic scents allow us to guarantee efficacy and consistency across every product, every batch. We can be flexible: introduce a new scent to test the market, respond to demand, and scale production without the limitations of biological sourcing.

New technology opens opportunities — to build a product that does a better job of its intended purpose (if you need to release a scent, why not do it for 30 days instead of until it soaks into the ground or it rains?), and to take care of the environment in the process.

We developed the bead to (1) release scent over an extended period and (2) biodegrade completely. No microplastics. No harmful field residue.

We believe most hunters would choose the option that is also better for the environment — as long as the product actually worked. We will not risk the precious time and expense of a hunting season on a “green” product that underperforms. We feel fortunate to offer both: superior performance with nothing left behind.

USDA CERTIFIED

Odin’s Innovations participates in the USDA BioPreferred Program. We submitted to rigorous testing to confirm our environmental commitment. We passed.
